New Jersey Devils rookie Arseny Gritsyuk will have season-ending surgery, coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed Thursday.
The 25-year-old Russian forward missed the past four games with an upper-body injury and will now be shut down.
Gritsyuk, a fifth-round draft pick in 2019, tallied 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 66 appearances this season.
The Devils (38-34-2, 78 points) are 11 points out of a wild-card spot heading into their Thursday night home game against the Washington Capitals.
