Spencer Jones belted a three-run home run, Cody Bellinger hammered a two-run shot, and the New York Yankees cruised to an 8-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday in Minneapolis.
Bellinger collected three hits while Heliot Ramos, George Lombard Jr. and Anthony Volpe had two apiece for New York (88-63), which earned its third win in a row and its seventh in eight games. The Yankees will look to complete a three-game sweep of the Twins on Wednesday afternoon.
Luke Keaschall went 3-for-4 and Emmanuel Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for Minnesota (70-81), which took its seventh loss in nine games.
Yankees left-hander Max Fried (5-4) allowed one run on six hits in seven innings. He walked none and struck out six.
Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (7-6) gave up three runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. He fanned three and walked two.
The Yankees jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Ben Rice hit a leadoff single, and Bellinger followed with a 399-foot, two-run homer over the wall in right-center field.
The Twins cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second. Royce Lewis reached on an infield single, swiped second base and scored on a single to center by Rodriguez.
Lombard put the Yankees on top 3-1 in the third with an RBI single to right.
New York broke the game open with four runs in the sixth.
Rice reached on an error, Bellinger walked and Ramos drove in Rice with a double to left.
Two batters later, Jones belted a three-run homer to center to put New York up by six runs. The 423-foot blast landed in the second deck of the outfield.
The Yankees capped the scoring in the ninth when Jose Caballero singled to center to score Lombard from second.
New York left-hander Ryan Yarbrough finished the game with two scoreless innings. He threw 21 of 29 pitches for strikes.
