Denver Nuggets swingman Julian Strawther will miss at least six weeks after suffering a left knee sprain during a preseason game last week.
Strawther was injured Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers and helped off the court. There were fears the injury was season-ending before an MRI exam detected a sprain.
Strawther will be re-examined in six weeks, when an updated timetable will likely be revealed.
The 24-year-old Strawther has averaged 7.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 172 games (18 starts) over three NBA seasons. Last season, he averaged 7.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 57 games (14 starts) and shot a career-best 46.7% from the field.
He is eligible through Monday to sign a rookie-scale extension with the Nuggets.
Strawther was a first-round pick (29th overall) by Denver out of Gonzaga in 2023.
